Northfix can’t see your network. Here’s exactly what it touches.

Effective October 12, 2026

The short version: Northfix has no account. The developer does not collect, see, store, sell or share any of your data. Everything you put into Northfix stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. If you join a team, what you share with it is encrypted on your device first, so the team server can’t read it either.

What Northfix works with

Your LinkedIn export. The files you import are read on your device. The results are saved in your private iCloud Drive app folder (or only on the device if iCloud is off, and on Android). Nobody else can read them.

Notes, stars, follow-ups and corrections you add are saved the same way.

Contacts (optional). If you allow it, Northfix matches your connections to your iPhone Contacts on the device to show their photo and estimate where they are. Contact data is never uploaded. Matched photos are kept only on the device.

Calendar (optional). If you allow it, Northfix reads upcoming events on the device to prepare meeting briefs and spot trips. Event details are not uploaded or stored by the developer.

Location (optional). If you allow it, your current location is used on the device to show who’s nearby. It isn’t stored or uploaded.

Arrival alerts (optional). If you turn on arrival alerts and allow location “Always”, iOS tells Northfix when you’ve moved a significant distance (using its low-power cell and Wi-Fi based updates, not continuous GPS). Northfix compares that on the device with where your people are and may show a notification. Your location isn’t stored beyond the last city it alerted you about, and it’s never uploaded.

Arrival check on Android (optional). On Android, Northfix only checks your location while the app is open, when you’ve turned on the arrival check. It keeps your home area and the last place it told you about on the phone, and never uploads either. It doesn’t use background location.

Email (optional). If you connect Outlook or Gmail, Northfix signs in directly with Microsoft or Google on your device and reads only the sender, recipients, date and subject line of recent messages. It can’t read message bodies or attachments: it asks only for Microsoft’s Mail.ReadBasic or Google’s gmail.metadata permission, which don’t include them. Northfix matches those addresses to people in your network on your device and keeps only the date, direction and subject of your latest email with each person, alongside your other notes in your own iCloud. Nothing is sent to a Northfix server, and turning email off in Settings removes what it added. Northfix’ use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Social downloads (optional). You can give Northfix the data download that Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok lets you request from your own account. Northfix reads only the friends, followers and following lists in it (names, usernames and the date you connected), on your device, and matches them to people you already know. It never signs in to those services, never contacts them, and ignores everything else in the download. What it keeps stays with your other notes in your own iCloud, and removing a service in Northfix deletes what it added.

Watchlist news (optional). To show headlines about the companies and agencies on your watchlist, your device asks Google News for recent articles about each name on that list. Only those company or agency names are sent, with no information about you or the people you know. You can turn this off in Settings.

Voice notes and questions. When you log a conversation or ask Northfix a question, by typing, dictation or Siri, the text is read and answered on your device against your own network. Dictation and Siri are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; Northfix receives only the text.

Pursuits and intros. Opportunities you track, the people you place in each role, and intro requests you log are your own notes. They stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.

Feedback. If you shake your phone or tap Send feedback, Northfix opens an email to us with your note, basic device details and, only if you leave it switched on, a picture of the screen you were on. You see everything before you send it.

Apple Reminders (optional). If you turn on follow-ups in Reminders, Northfix adds a reminder to a “Northfix” list in your Apple Reminders for each follow-up, and reads that list to see which ones you checked off. Reminders sync through your own iCloud account like any other reminder. Northfix doesn’t read your other lists.

Meeting notes (optional). You can share notes, transcripts, PDFs or photos of pages to Northfix from apps like Plaud, Apple Notes and reMarkable, or paste them in. Northfix reads them on your device (including handwriting, with Apple’s on-device text recognition) to find the people you know and any action items. It keeps only the short note you save on each person, not the full text, and nothing is uploaded.

Connect LinkedIn (optional, EEA and Switzerland). Where LinkedIn lets members share their data with apps, you can connect LinkedIn instead of importing a file. LinkedIn sends your connections, messages and invitations directly to your device. A small sign-in helper run for Northfix only exchanges LinkedIn’s one-time sign-in code for an access token; it doesn’t store or log tokens or any data.

Place lookups. When you search for a city or set a location, the place name is looked up with Apple’s mapping service, under Apple’s privacy policy. Phone-number and city data for estimating locations is built into the app and works offline.

Salesforce (optional). If you connect Salesforce, Northfix sends the people, follow-ups and notes you choose directly from your device to your organization’s Salesforce, signing in with Salesforce (OAuth). Sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s keychain. That data is then governed by your organization’s Salesforce agreement.

ZoomInfo and Seamless.AI (optional). If you add your own ZoomInfo or Seamless.AI account, Northfix sends the names, companies, titles and LinkedIn links of the people you choose to look up directly from your device to that provider, only when you ask, to fetch their work email, phone, title and city. You can sign in on the provider’s own page (Northfix never sees your password; Seamless.AI sign-in uses the same sign-in helper described above, which only exchanges codes for tokens) or enter an API key. Credentials are kept in your device’s keychain and are not synced. Lookups use your account and credits and are governed by your agreement with that provider. Nothing goes to Northfix.

Team packs (optional). If you choose to share a team pack, Northfix makes a file listing the names, titles, companies, LinkedIn links and how well you know each person in your network (never notes, messages, emails or tags). You decide who to send it to. Packs you receive from teammates stay on your device.

Northfix Team (optional). If you start or join a team, your device shares a summary with your teammates: the names, titles, companies, LinkedIn links and how well you know each person in your network, plus your pursuits (with the names of the people in each role) and your watchlist. It never includes notes, messages, emails, tags or contact details. Before anything leaves your device, it’s encrypted with a key that only your team has. The key travels inside the invite link, after the “#”, which apps and browsers never send to a server. The team server stores that encrypted data, your team’s encrypted name, and each member’s encrypted name and title. It also keeps what it needs to run: random team and member IDs, each member’s role, when each share last changed and how big it is, open invites, seat counts, billing status, and a log of joins, departures and role changes. It can’t read your network, and neither can the developer. Leaving a team, or being removed, deletes your share from the server. Deleting a team deletes everything about it. The team server runs on Cloudflare.

Team billing. Teams that subscribe pay on the web through Stripe. Stripe receives the payment details and the billing contact the owner enters, under Stripe’s privacy policy. The developer sees the plan, the number of seats and whether payment is current, never card details.

Enrichment files (optional). If you import a file exported from a data provider, it’s read on your device and matched to your people. Nothing is uploaded.

Apple Watch. A summary of the people you’re likely to act on is sent from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch through Apple’s Watch connection.

Crash reports. iOS may give Northfix anonymous crash and performance reports. They stay on your device and are only sent if you choose Send feedback and send the email yourself.

Purchases. Northfix Pro is bought through Apple (or Google Play on Android). The developer receives no payment details.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ads. The live demo and the interactive examples run entirely in your browser on a made-up sample network; nothing you type into them is sent anywhere. Like any website host, our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.

Tracking and advertising

Northfix has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect data.

Children

Northfix is a professional networking tool and isn’t directed at children under 13.

Your choices

You can turn off Contacts, Calendar and Location access at any time in iOS Settings, disconnect Salesforce, ZoomInfo or Seamless.AI in the app, leave a team (which deletes your share from the team server), and delete everything by deleting the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Northfix).

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Questions: jay@jaynichols.net.
